The concept of using steel frames in the construction of houses and buildings is by no means new. In Australia and the United States, the steel frame building method has been used for over 25 years in houses, commercial buildings and other structures. What is new, however, is the way Steel-Frame Ltd uses and applies steel frame construction methods to a wide range of applications. Designs are fed straight to the roll former from our design softwareThe design of the house or building is developed using sophisticated computer design software. The Steel is run though a series of rollers, forming a 90x40 "C" section.Flat galvanised sheeting (0,55 mm to 1,2 mm thick) is continually fed from a roll feeder into the Roll Former. By feeding the flat steel through a series of rollers, the shape is changed into the extremely strong "C" section which is used for all of our steel framing. The design software instructs the Roll Former software as to how long each component of the frame should be, and is accurate to 0.5 mm. At the same time, the Roll Former is instructed where the service holes, rivet holes, flats, notches are to be placed. These are essential for the accurate erection of the frame. All items come out of the roll former punched, Notched, cut, ready to easily be Assembled.NO drilling or Welding In no time at all the frames are ready to be delivered. Frames can easily be Stood in far less time, and with far less labour, as they are light and easy to handle. Time SavingLight gauge steel framing is quick and easy to assemble and erect. With a few simple tools and a rivet gun, a complete house can be steel framed by fewer men in a shorter time than an equivalent timber framed house. A big time saver is the fact that lightweight steel framing is not affected by water. Delayed rain days are a thing of the past and there’s no waiting for timber framing to dry. AccurateThe lightweight steel frame material is manufactured to the nearest millimetre. Assembly is fast and accurate giving straight frames, accurate lengths and square corners every time. Doors and windows made with light gauge steel framing will fit first time…no more reworks! LightweightLight gauge steel framing weighs less that 25% of the weight of wood, so larger lightweight steel frames can be handled by fewer men. Fixing is fast and simple and no lifting equipment is required to move the steel frames. There is also less stress on the foundations and slabs. Superior StrengthSteel has the highest strength to weight ratio of all common building materials. Steel not only has a high compressive strength, it has an extremely high tensile strength. Light gauge steel framing is the recommended framing material for hurricane and earthquake areas in the US. Cost EffectiveNot only does a light gauge steel frame cost less than traditional timber frame, there is far less waste. There is also a big saving in lead time, erection time, manpower and handling costs. This all leads to higher profits on your building project.
